Francesco Astiaso Garcia, italo-spagnolo, è pittore, fotografo, scultore, curatore e padre di quattro figli. Si è laureato all'Accademia delle Belle Arti di Roma in Pittura e Storia dell'Arte con il massimo dei voti e la lode, frequentando poi per un anno anche l'Académie des Beaux-Arts di Parigi.
Ha girato il mondo realizzando affreschi e pitture murali nelle principali città di quattro continenti, (Madrid, Parigi, Varsavia, Shanghai, New York, Managua, Denver, La Valletta etc..), e in molte città italiane (Roma, Perugia, Teramo, L'Aquila, Pescara, Porto San Giorgio, Civitanova e presso la Santa Casa di Loreto).
Ha collaborato alla realizzazione degli affreschi dell'abside della Cattedrale di Madrid con il pittore Kiko Arguello con il quale collabora dal 2001.
I suoi quadri sono stati esposti e apprezzati dal pubblico e dalla critica in numerose sedi tra cui la Galleria Astarte a Parigi, il Museo Nazionale d'Arte Moderna di Malta e le Sale del Bramante a Roma. Negli ultimi 15 anni ha tenuto oltre venti esposizioni personali presso: Palazzo dei Capitani (Ascoli Piceno), Spazio Museale dell'Agostiniana a Piazza del Popolo, Accademia di Romania, Numen Gallery, Istituto Culturale Portoghese di Sant'Antonio, Palazzo Velli (Trastevere), Galleria Acquario, Galleria Cervantes di Piazza Navona, Teatro Lauro Rossi di Macerata, Galleria Sempione etc…
Le sue opere figurano in collezioni pubbliche e private.
Astiaso Garcia ha suscitato interesse nel mondo artistico per la sua capacità di rappresentare la figura umana in modo da fissarne sulla tela l'essenza spirituale. L'artista ha ricevuto diversi premi e riconoscimenti a livello nazionale ed internazionale.
Dal 2011 Francesco lavora anche per il Vaticano eseguendo diversi incarichi e commissioni artistiche.
Nel 2015 ha ricevuto il Premio Internazionale "Giovanni Paolo I" assegnato a personalità "che si sono contraddistinte nei vari campi del sapere per la loro testimonianza cristiana e di impegno nel sociale".
Nel 2019 è nominato Segretario Nazionale dell'Unione Cattolica Artisti Italiani (U.C.A.I.), fondata da San Paolo VI, e Segretario di Redazione della storica rivista cartacea "Arte e Fede", curandone personalmente anche i vari canali Social e le pagine web.
Dal 2019, con la pubblicazione del volume EPIFANIE, in lingua italiana e in lingua cinese, assieme alla Fondazione Internazionale Padre Matteo Ricci, Astiaso sta portando avanti un progetto di dialogo culturale tra Italia e Cina che prevede anche la realizzazione di convegni e mostre espositive congiunte, sul territorio italiano e in quello cinese, alcune delle quali già sono state realizzate; il progetto “Due Sguardi una Bellezza” è stato incoraggiato per iscritto anche dal Presidente del Consiglio dei ministri e dal Presidente della Repubblica Sergio Mattarella.
Nel 2021 Astiaso Garcia realizza un ritratto di Papa Francesco, firmato anche dallo stesso Pontefice, che ha benedetto e apprezzato diverse sue opere, anche per iscritto; tra queste ricordiamo "la Crocifissione dei migranti", la pala "Misericordia e Verità" e l'affresco monumentale dell'Annunciazione dipinto nella Santa Casa di Loreto.
Nel gennaio 2023 Astiaso Garcia è nominato membro della giuria per il Concorso d'Arte Europeo Fafce Europe, organizzato da EUROPEAN ART CONTEST e svoltosi dentro al Parlamento Europeo di Strasburgo il 14 giugno 2023.
Biography
Francesco Astiaso Garcia, Italian-Spanish, is a painter, photographer, sculptor, curator and father of four children. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in Painting and Art History Summa cum Laude, subsequenty attending the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris for a year.
He has traveled the world creating frescoes and wall paintings in major cities on four continents, (Madrid, Paris, Warsaw, Shanghai, New York, Managua, Denver, Valletta etc.), and in many Italian cities (Rome, Perugia, Teramo, L'Aquila, Pescara, Porto San Giorgio, Civitanova and at the Holy House of Loreto).
He collaborated on the frescoes in the apse of Madrid Cathedral with painter Kiko Arguello, with whom he has been working since 2001.
His paintings have been exhibited and appreciated by the public and critics in numerous venues including the Astarte Gallery in Paris, the National Museum of Modern Art in Malta, and the Sale del Bramante in Rome. Over the past 15 years he has held more than twenty solo exhibitions at: Palazzo dei Capitani (Ascoli Piceno), Spazio Museale dell'Agostiniana in Piazza del Popolo, Academy of Romania, Numen Gallery, Portuguese Cultural Institute of St. Anthony, Palazzo Velli (Trastevere), Acquario Gallery, Cervantes Gallery in Piazza Navona, Lauro Rossi Theater in Macerata, Sempione Gallery etc.
His works are exhibited in public and private collections.
Astiaso Garcia has generated interest in the art world for his ability to represent the human figure in a way that fixes its spiritual essence on canvas. The artist has received several prizes and awards nationally and internationally.
Since 2011 Francis has also been working for the Vatican performing various artistic commissions and assignments.
In 2015, he received the "John Paul I" International Prize awarded to personalities "who have distinguished themselves in the various fields of knowledge for their Christian witness and commitment to social issues."
In 2019, he was appointed National Secretary of the Unione Cattolica Artisti Italiani (U.C.A.I.), founded by Pope St. Paul VI, and Editorial Secretary of the print magazine "Art and Faith," also personally taking care of its various Social channels and web pages.
Since 2019, with the publication of the EPIFANIE volume, in Italian and Chinese, together with the “Father Matteo Ricci International Foundation”, Astiaso has been carrying out a project of cultural dialogue between Italy and China which also includes the organization of joint conferences and exhibitions , in Italy and in China, some of which have already been built; the "Due Sguardi una Bellezza" project, was also encouraged in writing by the President of the Council of Ministers and by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
In 2021, Astiaso Garcia made a portrait of Pope Francis, personally signed by the Pontiff himself, who blessed and appreciated several of his works, including these in writing, which include "the Crucifixion of Migrants," the "Mercy and Truth" altarpiece, and the monumental fresco of the Annunciation painted in the Holy House of Loreto.
In January 2023 Astiaso Garcia is appointed as a jury member for the Fafce Europe European Art Competition, organized by EUROPEAN ART CONTEST and held inside the European Parliament in Strasbourg on June 14, 2023.
